FAQs

  • The concrete mix all depends on the intended use. 3000psi is the most common mix for walkways, patios, and footers. Driveway mixes depend on the size and amount of vehicles. Mixes will range from 3000psi up to 5000psi, it all depends on the job. You can read more about concrete strength here.

  • For most common mixes we can deliver as small as 1 yard. Higher psi mixes may require a minimum of 4 yards.

We charge a delivery fee for orders less than 6 yards and we have a $500 minimum order before taxes.

  • We are not an installation company. Currently, we only handle the delivery of the concrete. We do work regularly with lots of great finishers. We are happy to recommend someone. Give us a call for a referral.

We have already made some suggestions to consider before hiring a concrete installer. Please read this before letting anyone start a job at your home.

  • Slump refers to the workability of the concrete. Slump is measured in inches; 1” - 10”. A lower number means the concrete is thicker and harder to work. A higher number means the concrete will be more viscous and easier to spread. 5” is most common for flat work. 3” is common for jobs requiring the concrete to “stand up”, like curbs. Check with your finisher for what slump they want to be delivered.

  • Always refer to your installer for their recommended guidelines.

It usually takes about 28 days for concrete to cure to full strength.

In normal conditions, concrete will be hard enough to walk on in 24 - 48 hours. In 7 days the concrete should be cured enough to drive on. I would keep heavy equipment off the surface for as close as possible to 28 days.

  • We do not have our own concrete pumps. However, we regularly work with great companies we are confident recommending. Give us a call and we will refer you to them.

  • Air entrainment is used in concrete for exterior uses. Long story short, it helps stop concrete from cracking during the freeze/thaw cycles.

We sell “interior” mixes and “exterior” mixes. Our interior mix does not have air and is used for applications not exposed to freezing and thawing. I.E. footers and indoor slabs. Exterior mixes have air entrained and are used for driveways, walkways, patios, etc.

You can read more about air entrainment here.
